A relaxed day of fishing, whether from a small canoe with light line or a well-equipped
aluminum fishing boat is still one of man's treasured experiences.
Lake Temagami offers the mighty lake trout,
pickerel (walleye),
smallmouth bass,
northern pike, and
whitefish.
Year after year, Lake Temagami anglers have been catching 30 to 40 pound lake trout that have been topping the Molson's Big Fish Contest in Ontario. The smell of fresh fish in the pan, mixed with the aroma of wood and forest is a vacation highlight. See our photos below!! Lake Temagami is well known for its lake trout, but a lot of people don't realize that there is great smallmouth bass fishing here as well. There is a fishing tournament held annually on Lake Temagami. This year (2008), it is scheduled for Sun. Aug. 10. There is plenty of docking space as each cottage has its own dock, and we have no docking fees. For the convenience of our guests, we have available for sale: ice, maps, gas, oil, live bait, and fishing licences (Opens in a new tab/window). We also provide a fish cleaning hut (with running water) and freezer service. 
Canusa Vacations also offers fishing in remote lakes nearby. We supply the boat and motor, and you carry in some gas (supplied) and your fishing equipment. |

In the winter, ice fishing is very popular on
Lake Temagami.
Canusa Vacations has 3 winterized (electric heat and hot and cold running water)
housekeeping cottages for rent. We also provide the rental of 2-man ice fishing huts (propane-heated).
The wilderness setting makes
Lake Temagami a great choice for
first-time winter trouters. Fish deepwater structures such as submerged
points, saddles and sunken islands; heavy spoons and tube jigs work
well here, as do the largest Jigging Rapalas and wobbling blade baits.
